Elena Timofeeva

Elena is the Program Manager at Jewel Girls and the President of Safe House Foundation. She is an experienced social worker and psychologist and has previously worked with people living with HIV/AIDS and at-risk groups providing psychological and social support. Elena began working with victims of trafficking whilst employed at the International Organization for Migration in Moscow in 2008 where she was part of the IOM Counter –Trafficking team. She has since been part of the establishment of the first rehabilitation center for victims of trafficking in Russia.

Safe House Foundation

Jewel Girls Program is a project aimed at rehabilitating victims of human trafficking as well as increasing awareness amongst at-risk groups on human trafficking. Safe House Foundation is a pioneer in the field of combatting and preventing human trafficking in Russia. The program is made up of two components: social and commercial. The social component embodies the provision of medical, psychological and social assistance to at-risk groups and survivors. The commercial component consists of the production and sale of handmade products such as jewellery and clothing items manufactured in art-therapy workshops sold through the Jewel Girls Program.
