SE Forum deltog igår i en paneldiskussion kring regeringens nya strategi för att stärka utvecklingen av sociala företag och social innovation. Diskussionen hölls på Vinnova med Mikael Dambergs statssekreterare Stina Billinger på plats för att presentera strategin.

För att kommentera och diskutera strategin deltog vår vd Nicklas Wallberg i en panel tillsammans med Maja Frankel, Ashoka, och Jon Goland, Reach for Change. Panelen var enig i vikten av att strategin har lanserats och Maja använde sig av ordet ’äntligen’! Jon var positiv till Stinas fokus på ’varför’ vi behöver sociala innovationer och företag, och Nicklas påpekade även värdet i att kunna använda samma samlingsord för att bygga sektorn men ville även se mer vision.

Diskussionen fokuserade till stor del på fördelarna av ömsesidigt lärande och att vi redan nu har en bra grund att stå på – vi behöver inte starta på ny kula, vi bör istället fortsätta utveckla det vi redan har och bygga långsiktiga samarbeten som kan stärka hela ekosystemet. Därför ser vi positivt på Vinnovas nya utlysning som presenterades igår och som kommer fokusera på lösningar som främjar social innovation.

“Regeringens strategi är ett steg i rätt riktning, och vi är positiva till regeringens satsning på social innovation med 50 miljoner per år. Men för riktig systemförändring behöver vi mer än smörjmedel, vi behöver långsiktighet och resurser till innovationsfrämjare som systematiskt möjliggör för fler och starkare sociala entreprenörer och därmed ökad samhällsnytta. Och vi ska komma ihåg att strategin är satt för 2018-2020 så vi behöver komma igång. Vi uppskattar Vinnovas ambitioner inom social innovation och ser fram emot att gå från diskussion till handling under 2018 – vi har mycket arbete framför oss för att utnyttja regeringens satsning på bästa sätt”.

SE Forum took part in a panel discussion on Tuesday 29 May, about the Swedish government´s new strategy to strengthen the development of social enterprises and social innovation. The discussion was held at Vinnova´s office in Stockholm where Minister of Enterprise and Innovation Mikael Damberg’s state secretary Stina Billinger presented the strategy.

Our Executive Director Nicklas Wallberg discussed the strategy in a panel together with Maja Frankel (Ashoka) and Jon Goland (Reach for Change). The panel agreed on the importance of the strategy and Maja used the word ’finally’! Jon was positive to the government’s focus on ’why’ our society needs social innovations and companies, and Nicklas highlighted the value in using a common language to grow the sector, but he also wanted to see more vision.

The discussion largely focused on the advantages of mutual learning and the great foundation we already have across the sector in Sweden – which means we don’t need to start from scratch. We should instead continue to develop what we already have and create long-term partnerships that can strengthen the whole ecosystem. We therefore look positive on Vinnova´s upcoming initiative which was presented yesterday and will focus on funding solutions that supports social innovation.

But for a systematic shift, we need long-term thinking and resources for an ecosystem that can systematically allow for more and stronger social entrepreneurs, and thus increased social impact. And we should remember that the strategy is set for 2018-2020 so we need to get started as soon as possible. We appreciate Vinnova’s ambitions in social innovation and look forward to going from discussion to action in 2018 – we have a lot of work to do in order to make the most of the government’s strategy.”
