The SE Outreach Accelerator is a scaling program for social entrepreneurs running a businesses that address social and environmental challenges facing the developing world. 

The program consists of three parts and runs over a period of six months. Participants spend 3 x 2 weeks attending sessions, events and workshops in Stockholm and 4 months in their home countries, for a practical implementation phase. The SE Outreach Accelerator is designed to ensure that the participants leave Stockholm with the skills and confidence required to scale up their social enterprises and increase their impact on the world!

At SE Forum your role as a mentor will be that of a social entrepreneurship mentor. By taking on this critical role, you agree to help, build a relationship with and facilitate the professional growth of your mentee/entrepreneur. This is done through the process of offering personalized support and sharing your network to facilitate the development of the entrepreneur and his/her enterprise. In other words, you will assist the entrepreneur in the pursuit of enhancing the social impact through the growth of his/her social enterprise.

What to expect as a mentor:

  • Enhancement of listening, management, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Gaining a better understanding of previously untapped markets.
  • The satisfaction of making a positive impact.
  • An introduction to the program (joint session with all other mentors) prior to the start of the program. You will be handed a handbook with recommendations and guidelines.
  • Continuous dialogue/support by SE Forum staff throughout the entire program.
  • Regular feedback from SE Forum.

 

What we expect from our mentors

Time commitment: Approximately 2 hours per week during 2 x 3 weeks in April and September and around 3 hours mentoring per month during the 4 months in between the two periods.

Prior to the program:

  • Familiarize yourself with the background and idea of the social entrepreneur that you have been matched with.
  • Think about potential contacts that might benefit the entrepreneur.
  •  Attend the introduction session hosted by SE Forum where you will meet the other mentors, receive more information about the program etc.

During the program:

  • Inspire the entrepreneur to realize his/her potential.
  • Show a genuine interest in the entrepreneur and the enterprise’s vision and mission.
  • Provide an outside perspective, support, guidance and encouragement.
  • Help and facilitate professional growth by sharing own experience of both failures and successes.
  • Be a sounding board for ideas and facilitate decision making by suggesting alternatives.
  • Provide contacts and networks to further personal and business development of the entrepreneur.
  • Read through their business plans and/or other documentations provided, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Be available for approximately 2 hours per week during 2 x 3 weeks in April and September and around 3 hours mentoring per month during the 4 months in between the two periods. Post training mentoring hours is greatly appreciated as well.

After the program:

  • Continuous mentoring support at least 4 months post the program (approx. 2 contacts per month).
  • Feedback from you on your experience, the mentoring structure and on your entrepreneur.
